WORKSHOP A: 'The Insider Threat' Wednesday 25th March

Look at the person sitting next to you at work. Are they happy with what they do and the organisation for which they work? Could they pose an threat to the organisation?

The more we use and rely upon technology in the workplace the more we seem to ignore the people issues. People are behind the cyber scams. People inadvertently leak vital data and information.

Threats come in all shapes and forms and whilst they may have a cyber outcome they may not have begun that way.

This interactive session has been designed to illustrate that threats, including insider threats, do not always come from the most likely places. Some well known events that have occurred as a result of maverick insiders will be used as part of the session in order to demonstrate how you can protect your organisation from the consequences of such threats.

Jo Stewartt-Rattray, Director of Information Security, RSM Bird Cameron

Jo specialises in consulting in information security issues with a particular emphasis on governance in both the commercial and operational areas of businesses.

She provides strategic advice to organisations across a number of industry sectors including banking and finance, utilities, automotive manufacturing, tertiary education, retail and government. Jo is eminently qualified in this area, being a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and President of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) Adelaide Chapter, and is a member of its international Security Management Committee.

She has recently been appointed to CIGRE’s international working group B5.38 which is assessing information security risks in power system operations within SCADA systems and the implementation of appropriate controls.

WORKSHOP B: Emergency Welfare Management for Small Scale and Large Scale Events

This workshop will consider emergency welfare response in New Zealand.

Two case studies will be presented through an interactive workshop covering:

• A small scale event in a rural community
• An event in a large urban area requiring major evacuations

The workshop will consider:

• The context of welfare in a significant event / declared emergency
• Planning for the provision of welfare
• Delivering welfare response and recovery

Jane Lodge, Manager, Emergency Management and Planning, Auckland City Council
John Cavanagh, Ministry Social Development

Jane Lodge, a planner, coordinator and trainer, is an Emergency Management Manager at Auckland City Council. She is responsible for emergency response readiness, operational planning, hazard management and advocacy. Jane has been involved in civil defence emergency management for over ten years and has lectured in business communication and organisational management. She has long term experience in planning for and providing emergency welfare and is passionate about her involvement in community development and relationship building.

Jane's welfare experience and current work involves her at local, regional and national levels. She is currently Vice Chair of the Register of Engineers for Disaster Relief, NZ and a member of the International Association of Emergency Managers.
